Spice up your go-to foods with international flair
It’s all about the global view. No, not your passport or flight itinerary, this is about mentally traveling from the comfort of your kitchen.
If you’ve ever stared at your plate and thought, “Ugh, this again,” you’re not alone. I hear it all the time from clients and podcast listeners. We get bored. We end up eating the same meals, cooked the same way, day in and day out. But the antidote to that monotony doesn’t require a total overhaul of your routine or hours in the kitchen. Instead, try working the globe.
Think about your go-to foods. What if instead of ditching them, you just gave them a vacation? Let’s take broccoli as our example. You probably roast it, steam it, or maybe toss it raw into a salad. That’s fine, but what if you gave it a little global adventure?
Picture this: Italian-style broccoli. Sauté it with garlic and oregano, top it with marinara sauce and a sprinkle of parmesan. It’s simple, flavorful, and suddenly broccoli feels like a new experience. Or take it to the Middle East, bake it with tahini and hummus, then add a generous dusting of za’atar and sumac. That’s a whole different vibe.
Feeling bold? Go Moroccan. Roast your broccoli with lemon juice, coriander, cumin, garlic, and just a pinch of cinnamon. Your taste buds will think they’ve just booked a flight to Casablanca.
The point isn’t to reinvent your grocery list or start from scratch. It’s about taking a minute, literally 30 seconds in front of the fridge or three minutes before you head to the store, to think about how different cultures would prepare the ingredients you already have. A quick search on Google or a scroll through your favorite recipe site is all it takes.
This is why I love the concept of Working the Globe. It gives new life to the foods we rely on every day. It’s fast, flavorful, and totally customizable. Plus, it can re-energize your excitement around eating healthy without feeling like a chore.
So, tell me, what part of the world is inspiring your kitchen this week? And which food will you use to work the globe? Share your ideas in the comments, I can’t wait to see where your fork takes you next.
